abstract = "The Permanent Preservation Areas (PPAs) in recent years are
suffering from the constant degradation due to the increase of
anthropogenic activity intensified on these areas. The aim of this
study was to identify conflicts of use in the PPAs through maps
and tables. The study was done with the area of Apa Pratigi, south
of Bahia, that has a size of 1700 kmē ha. The ArcGIS software was
used as the support tool in the creation of maps and tables, the
principal archive was the SRTM (Shuttle Radar Thematic Mapper) 30
meters. The SRTM was used to do the PPAs map, and it was made with
the term of the Forest Code. The total area of the PPAs APA
Pratigi, was 345,88 kmē, about 20.22% of the total area. The
calculation of conflict areas was done after the overlap between
the PPAs map and land use map. One of the classes that had higher
values within this overlap was the forest remnants, which obtained
39.43% of the PPAs. In addition, it was also possible to identify
46.61% of all APPs are consolidated areas. In this context, it is
necessary to suitability of the consolidated areas which
determines the new Forest Code in relation to the PPAs.",
